Is AI clipping legal? Rights explained

Compare the source workflow and rights checks

Clipwright creates captioned vertical clips from long-form source videos. The workflow requires evidence of rights and offers API and MCP access. Choose based on source-video limits, caption quality, crop quality, review effort and the rights evidence you can supply.

Test one source video you own. Inspect names in the captions, speaker framing, the opening hook and whether the excerpt changes the speaker’s meaning. Keep source and permission records. Review the final clip before publishing; nothing posts automatically.

Rights evidence comes first

Clipwright requires documented ownership, a programme brief, a licence or other accepted rights evidence before clipping. A public URL is not enough. Use the checklist to prepare evidence; it does not decide whether a particular use is lawful.
