Four tiers, metered in source videos per month — the thing that actually costs us compute. Clips per video, captions, thumbnails, the REST API and the MCP server are unmetered on every tier, including the free one. The rights gate is always on and is never a paid feature.

What you are buying that the others do not sell
Every tool in the table below turns long-form video into shorts. On that, we are one of many. The difference is what happens before the render: Clipwright refuses the job unless the footage is covered by one of four verified grants — content you own, an opt-in programme brief that licenses you, a signed licence file, or a Creative Commons / public-domain source with its attribution carried into the caption. There is no paste-a-link ingestion, on the site or in the API, because that is the path that produces unlicensed clips. Every clip we ship stores the grant that authorised it, so you can answer "what gave you the right to this?" with a record rather than an argument.
That is a narrower product than the others, on purpose. If you want to clip footage you do not have rights to, none of our tiers will do it, and you should not buy one.
What the alternatives charge
Read from each vendor's own pricing page on 2026-09-28. Where a vendor does not publish a number, the cell says so — we do not fill it in with a guess.

The cheapest paid entry tier in that table is 2short.ai Lite at $9.90/month on monthly billing, and Submagic Starter at $12/month when billed a year up front. Our Creator tier is $9 on monthly billing, with no annual commitment.
Where we are not the cheaper option
- Free tiers exist. Vizard's free plan gives 60 minutes of upload a month and 2short.ai's gives 30 minutes of analysis — both more generous in raw minutes than our 2 source videos. If your need fits inside a free tier, use one.
- Yearly commitments beat us on sticker price. Submagic Starter is $12/month and Klap Basic $14/month billed yearly; Descript Hobbyist is $16/month yearly. Our $9 has no annual lock-in, which is a different trade, not a strictly better one.
- Per-clip volume. Klap Pro+ is 1,000 clips a month for $94 billed yearly. If sheer clip count is what you need and rights are already settled, that is more clips per dollar than our Agency tier.
- Editing surface. Descript is a full edit-by-text video editor with transcription, dubbing into 30+ languages and avatars. We do none of that. We render clips.
So no claim on this page says we are the cheapest or the best. We are cheaper at the paid entry point on monthly billing, and we are the only one of these that will refuse the job.
How the meter works
One source video = one file you submit that passes the rights gate and renders. The
clips it produces, their captions and their thumbnails are not metered. A job that fails on our
side does not count. The month is a UTC calendar month. When you reach your limit the API returns
HTTP 402 and stops — we never bill an overage you did not agree to. Usage is visible at
GET /api/v1/usage.
Automatic publishing to social platforms is still not included on any tier, because we hold no platform posting tokens: scheduling records an intent and publishes nothing. No tier claims otherwise.
